In December 2020 CP Rail announced plans to design and build hydrogen-powered locomotives. Recently, CP and ATCO revealed that they have signed an agreement for Atco to construct two hydrogen re-fuelling stations, one in Edmonton and one in Calgary, to support the initiative.
