The Energy Council of Canada’s Canadian Energy Person of the Year Award proudly recognizes and pays tribute to a Canadian energy leader who has made a significant impact at the national and international levels with the energy sector. The award recognizes the recipient’s remarkable accomplishments in the business and government sectors and in the community at large. Their forward thinking and innovative spirit enable these leaders to advance the Canadian energy sector and Canada’s role in the world energy market.  Fifteen Canadian energy leaders have received this award since 2001.

The Energy Council of Canada is very pleased to announce Mrs. Elyse Allan, President and CEO, GE Canada, as the 2016 recipient of this year’s Canadian Energy Person of the Year award.

This year’s award highlights Mrs. Allan’s achievements under four themes: her achievements in executive leadership as head of an innovative, leading-edge company extensively engaged in the energy sector; her substantive engagement and insightful input into high-level dialogue on Canada’s energy strategy and energy policy in general; her dedicated contributions to national charitable organizations; and her commitment to mentorship of young professionals both with and external to her company.  Taken together, these achievements clearly illustrate Mrs. Allan’s strong credentials as the Energy Council’s 2016 Canadian Energy Person of the Year.
